Have you ever dealt with the heartbreak of having a pet get lost?  Hour by hour you wonder where your pet is and if they are OK.  Will a kind stranger find them and help them get back home?  Will they be found and taken to a shelter?  If that happens, will you find them in time to rescue them?

Each of us can only imagine the fear and trauma a lost pet goes through and we hate to think of it happening to one of ours.  But then - things do happen.

IDKC is a program of No More Homeless Pets KC designed to help address the lost pet issue.

The single best way to ensure your lost pet finds their way safely back to you is to make sure they always have identification on.  A collar with tags, combined with a microchip, is your surest bet you will be called if your pet is found.

In support of this, we are offering ID Tags FREE OF CHARGE for your pet.  We will have several outlets where you can get a tag for your pet.  Your information will be registered in a database so if your pet is found with and IDKC tag, the person that found your pet can call and find out how to reach you.

Tags can be ordered to be shipped to you but we do need to charge a small shipping and handling fee ($2.95) for any that are mailed.

We've also developed a couple of checklists that can come in handy.

1.  Prevention:  This checklist will walk you through the steps to help ensure your pet does not become lost.

2.  Lost Pet:  This checklist helps you know what steps to take if your pet is lost.  Doing each of these steps and not giving up will give you the best chance of recovering your pet.

3.  Found Pet:  This checklist will help you know what steps to take if you find a pet.  Please think LOST not STRAY.  Always consider there may be a grieving family missing the pet you've found so please make the effort to help reunite a found pet with their family.
